Clipboard history

Copy anything. Find it forever.

Faste remembers your clipboard — text, images and screenshots — so you never lose a copy again. Press ⌘⇧V anywhere, pick an item, done. It even reads the text inside your screenshots, so you can search for them later. And it all stays on your Mac.

Your clipboard, wherever you need it

Quick search, instant paste, pinned favourites, colour swatches and text recognition inside your screenshots — everything you copied, ready to reuse in seconds.

Inside Faste 01 / 08
01

Summon it anywhere

Press ⌘⇧V while you're writing, coding or replying and your full clipboard history appears right where you're working — no mousing to the menu bar.

02

Keyboard-first, always

Arrow keys to move, to paste, ⌘1⌘9 to grab any of the first nine items instantly. Your hands never leave the keys.

03

Search the text inside your screenshots

Faste reads the words in every image you copy, so you can find that invoice by its number weeks later. Recognition runs on your Mac — no image is ever uploaded.

04

Paste straight into what you're doing

Turn on Paste Immediately and picking an item drops it into the app you're already in — one action instead of three. One Accessibility permission, nothing more.

05

Real previews, and pins that stick

Everything arrives with a rich preview — image thumbnails, file type and size, the app it came from and when. Pin the keepers so they stay on top forever.

06

Every colour you copy, collected

Copy a hex, rgb() or hsl() value and Faste shows a live swatch beside it. The Colors filter gathers every one — your palette, built as you work.

07

Find it in milliseconds

Realtime search as you type, with filters by kind and date. Auto-cleanup keeps things tidy — set your own limit from 100 to 2,000 items.

08

Never the same thing twice

Copy something you already have and Faste lifts the existing entry back to the top instead of stacking a duplicate — matched across your whole history.

Built for everything you copy

From code snippets and design tokens to customer replies, screenshots, links and personal notes — Faste keeps every useful piece of your clipboard organised and ready to reuse.

Designers

Keep colours, icons, screenshots, gradients and visual references close at hand in a searchable shelf — with live swatches for every hex you copy.

Developers

Save code snippets, shell commands, stack traces, JSON payloads and PR links — then find and paste them back weeks later without digging through scrollback.

Content and Marketing

Capture hooks, taglines, keyword lists, research links, screenshots and campaign ideas before they disappear from your clipboard.

Sales and Support

Reuse your best replies, email templates, product links, customer notes and support screenshots without hunting through old conversations.

Founders and Operators

Organise investor notes, product ideas, competitor screenshots, pricing pages and daily research in one visual history.

Personal use

Find copied links, addresses, tracking numbers, one-time codes, recipes, quotes and anything else you meant to save.

Your clipboard never leaves your Mac

Most clipboard tools want your data in their cloud. Faste takes the opposite bet: everything stays in your own Library folder, in plain files you control.

  • 100% local storage. No cloud, no account, no sync servers — ever.
  • Passwords are never captured. Faste honors the concealed/transient clipboard standard used by password managers.
  • Per-app exclusion list. Tell Faste to ignore any app entirely.
  • Screenshot text is read on-device. Image search uses the recognition built into macOS. No image is uploaded, and it works offline.
  • Zero telemetry. The only network call is the update check you trigger — it fetches a version manifest and sends no identifiers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before getting started with Faste, from privacy and compatibility to how your clipboard history is stored and handled.

Is my clipboard data really private?
Yes. Every item is stored as plain files on your own Mac under ~/Library/Application Support/Faste/. There is no cloud component, no account, and no analytics. The only network request the app can make is the manual “Check for Updates”, which fetches a small version manifest and sends no identifiers. Read the full Privacy Policy.
Will it record passwords I copy from my password manager?
No. 1Password, Bitwarden, Apple Keychain and other password managers mark sensitive copies with the standard concealed/transient clipboard types — Faste respects those markers and never records that content. You can also add any app to the exclusion list so nothing copied from it is captured.
How does the trial and license work?
You get a fully functional 14-day free trial — no account or card needed. After that, activate with a lifetime license key (format FASTE-…). Validation happens entirely offline on your Mac: buy once, use forever, even without an internet connection.
Can it capture my screenshots too?
Yes — anything that reaches the clipboard is captured, with a thumbnail, and its text is recognised so you can search for it. By default macOS saves screenshots to the Desktop as files, so flip one setting: press ⌘⇧5Options → under Save to, choose Clipboard. From then on every screenshot lands in Faste automatically.
How does searching inside images work — is anything uploaded?
Nothing is uploaded. Faste uses the text recognition built into macOS, which runs on your own device, so it works with Wi-Fi off and no image or recognised text ever leaves your Mac. The text is stored in the same local JSON file as the item it belongs to, and is deleted when you delete that item. The first scan after launching takes a few seconds while macOS loads its recognition model; after that each image takes about a quarter of a second, always in the background. Images already in your history get scanned gradually, so switching it on works retroactively. You can turn it off any time in Settings → Image Search.
What does “Paste immediately” need Accessibility permission for?
To paste into the frontmost app on your behalf, macOS requires the Accessibility permission — it's the standard, sandboxed way for utilities to send a paste keystroke. You grant it once in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. The feature is optional; without it, selecting an item simply copies it and you paste with ⌘V.
Which Macs are supported?
Faste requires macOS 13 Ventura or later and ships as a universal binary, so it runs natively on both Apple Silicon (M-series) and Intel Macs. The download is a standard signed and notarized DMG — drag to Applications and you're done.
